Hi! I am Deepak, the owner of Fika With Me. I enjoy experimenting with food and my personal approach to my dishes in the cafe is largely influenced by my Fiji-Indian heritage.
HISTORY
After completing my studies, I knew I wanted to have my own restaurant someday. I fell in love with the vibe at Fika With Me. The café has allowed me to put my chef skills to the test and taught me a lot about running a business, but the best part about my job is getting to know our regulars and meeting new people.
To ‘Fika’ means to take a moment to slow down and appreciate the good things in life. The café has been in Birkenhead for over ten years and when I took over in April 2022, in line with the name, my aim was to create a space where people could relax and escape from their busy lives, catch up with family and friends, while enjoying good food.
WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER
At our cafe, we take pride in offering a diverse menu that caters to various dietary preferences and requirements. We have a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from, and in most cases, recipes can be modified to cater to our customers with allergies. Our chicken and steak are Halal, to ensure that all our guests can enjoy a delicious meal that aligns with their beliefs.
When visiting Fika, be sure to try the Masala Hash, a dish that comes highly recommended and even featured on the prestigious 2024 Top 100 Auckland Iconic Eats list. Another crowd favourite is the Beef Cheeks served on house-made hash browns with perfectly poached eggs. If you’re in the mood for classic cafe-style breakfast, look no further than the French Toast, the Big Breakfast, or our Chicken and Waffle. There’s something for everyone to enjoy at Fika.
For coffees, we serve Altura. Their beans are roasted to perfection, ensuring a smooth and satisfying experience with every cup. Whether you prefer a creamy latte, a strong espresso, or a delicate cappuccino, Fika With Me offers an escape to enjoy the simple pleasure of good coffee and great company.
